BIO

Growing up in Perth, Western Australia, Kate was passionate about sport, in particular Netball. She attended the University of Western Australia graduating with a Physical and Health Education Degree followed by a Diploma of Education.

Over the next 8 years Kate established herself as a successful Physical Education at the prestigious boys School – Christ Church Grammar. It was during this time she was introduced to Triathlon through her cousin Wesley as a way to keep fit over the summer. Little did she know it would one day become her new career!

The first few years were spent dabbling in the Olympic Distance events, attending Age Group worlds and meeting some amazing people along the way. Eventually through persistence from her original coach Andrew Budge and Cousin Wez she was convinced to give long course racing a go! The rest as they say….is history!

She was hooked!! With a passion for long course racing, in particular the Ironman distance Kate competed at the Hawaii Ironman World Championships twice as an age grouper and after successfully finishing 3rd in her division she took the plunge and entered the Professionally ranks.

After a few years combining working and racing it was time to give full dedication to her training and Triathlon! Kate now splits her time each year with 6 months in her home town Perth, Australia and 6months in Boise, Idaho USA.

Like any journey it has had it’s fair share of up’s and downs. All part of the process of making a stronger, faster more successful athlete! Kate has 3 x Ironman Titles to her name. Her first victory coming at home, Ironman Western Australia in 2010. She followed that up winning Ironman Korea in 2011, and recently her first victory on US soil crossing the line first at Ironman Louisville 2013.

Kate also loves the 70.3/Half Ironman distance with numerous podium finishes. But winning Busselton 70.3 in 2014, a local/home town race is her sentimental favourite!

Her dedication continues to Triathlon and leading a healthy lifestyle as Coach and Co-Founder of GK Endurance. A Triathlon coaching business which enables her to pass on years of experience, motivation, success and Fun to her athletes!

There is plenty left in the tank and goals to be achieved – stay tuned as this exciting adventure continues!!
